Winnall Moors to The Willow Tree: Winchester at Its BestA wander through Winnall Moors Nature Reserve is one of Winchester’s quietest pleasures. Even with a simple point‑and‑shoot in my pocket — the Canon G7X Mark II, a 2016 classic still beloved by vloggers in 2026 — the reserve offered endless moments worth capturing. Once you step through the gate, the city fades into reed beds, chalk‑stream reflections, and the silhouettes of bare trees. Managed as part of the wider Itchen Valley conservation effort, Winnall Moors remains a haven for walkers, wildlife watchers, and anyone who enjoys settling onto a bench to let the river set the pace. Fishing has also long been part of the area’s heritage, thanks to the chalk stream’s famously clear water. As dusk settled, I followed the path back toward town and rounded off the day at The Willow Tree. With its warm glow, riverside charm, and easygoing atmosphere, it was the perfect spot to relax, share a pint with friends, and look back at a day well spent. GEAR FEATURED IN THIS POST
